Water as Symbol of Death in Scripture:
Job 26:5 The shades below tremble, the waters and their
inhabitants. 6 Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no
covering.
Psalm 18: 4 The cords of death encompassed me, the torrents
of perdition assailed me; 5 the cords of Sheol entangled me,
the snares of death confronted me.… 16 [but God] reached from
on high, he took me, he drew me out of many waters .
Psalm 22: 14 I am poured out like water , and all my bones are
out of joint; my heart is like wax, it is melted within my breast; 16 Yea, dogs
are round about me; a company of evildoers encircle me; they have pierced my
hands and feet -- 17 I can count all my bones -- they stare and gloat over me;
Psalm 66:12 thou didst let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and
through water ; yet thou hast brought us forth to a spacious
place.
Psalm 69: 1 Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my
neck. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep
waters, and the flood sweeps over me…. 14 rescue
me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the
deep waters. 15 Let not the flood sweep over
me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over
me.
Psalm 124: 2 if it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up
against us, 3 then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was
kindled against us; 4 then the flood would have swept us away,
the torrent would have gone over us; 5 then over us would have
gone the raging waters .
Psalm 144:7 Stretch forth thy hand from on high, rescue me and deliver me from
the many waters , from the hand of aliens
1st Samuel 26:16 This thing that you have done is not good. As the LORD lives,
you deserve to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, the LORDS
anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the jar of water
that was at his head." [David had the opportunity to kill Saul, but instead
took the jar of water from Saul indicating that he spared Saul from death. cf

2nd Samuel 14:14 We must all die, we are like water
spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again…
Proverbs 23: 32 At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.

Jonah 2: 2 …out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou didst
hear my voice 3 For thou didst cast me into the deep, into the
heart of the seas, and the flood was round
about me; all thy waves and thy billows passed over me. 5 The waters
closed in over me, the deep was round about me; … 6 … yet thou didst bring up
my life from the Pit , O LORD my God.
Lamentations 3: 53 they flung me alive into the pit and cast
stones on me; 54 water closed over my head; I said, `I am
lost.' 55 "I called on thy name, O LORD, from the depths of the pit

Ezekiel 26: 3 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against you, O
Tyre, and will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings
up its waves…. 19 "For thus says the Lord GOD: When I make you a city laid
waste, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep
over you, and the great waters cover you, 20 then I will
thrust you down with those who descend into the Pit
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven
and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
